Day 50 (lock down)

Tuesday 12th May - bike *** - Felixstowe to Levington Marina – Sunny and warm start then cloudy and cool.

After two cold windy days which keep us off our bikes, we woke to wall to wall sunshine but decided against an early morning cycle as a little nippy. So did my exercises in the garden after breakfast were it was very warm, the swifts seem to have disappeared but I had a small Common Blue butterfly actually land today:) Then with a sandwich packed we headed out at one for Levington Marina as the sun goes with the clouds moving in:( Whether it was the weather putting people off but it was pretty quiet and no deer today. It is still strange on the River Orwell with no yachts about as we sat at our seat in the marina BBQ are but there was a cool breeze and it wasn’t overly pleasant as I didn’t put enough clothes on!!! Still Mag had made a top sandwich which we enjoyed even if not much bird life. We had a ride around the marina and bumped into foiling mate Jamie who works there and has just started back there. So back across the fields by the railway line with the highlight of the day being a yellow hammer on some cables with several tractors working the very dry, dusty fields, yet more pics for Grandson Arlo:) As I have a pic in todays Ipswich Star so we stopped at Morrisons where Mag treated herself to some plants too, as the garden is as pretty as a picture at the moment:) Jamie sent me a link saying that Levington Marina (Suffolk Yacht Harbour) are opening the site for people to work/check on there boats but the Harwich Harbour Authority still haven’t allowed leisure boats on the Orwell yet so no sailing there yet but things are hopefully moving in the right direction. Also we are allowed to drive for unlimited exercise which gives us the green light to go windsurfing again as long as we respect social distancing rules:)
